The curriculum materials are designed for Assistive Technology (AT) trainers to train consumers in the use of commonly used computer applications or for blind or visually impaired individuals to self-train. To this end, the instructional materials come in two versions - a Trainer's Guide and a Student Workbook. The Trainer's Guide is intended for use by an individual who will be training others. These guides have been successfully used by VIST's, BRO's, TVI's and Low Vision Instructors to develop and nurture critical computer-related job skills in their visually impaired employees and consumers. Organizations that do not directly supply training have purchased our materials to ensure that their contracted AT trainers are delivering high quality and consistent teaching. The Trainer's Guide will include special instructions for the trainer as well as an Assessment section, where the trainer can effectively measure and monitor their trainee's progress. The Student Workbook is used for a dual purpose. Firstly, if a trainee, employee or consumer is working with a trainer using the Trainer's Guide, the student workbook is a perfect companion piece to support the current learning. The Student Workbook offers additional opportunities for practice as well as a take home reference guide for future questions. Secondly, depending on the level of computer competency, the Student Workbook has been successfully used as a self-teaching vehicle for visually impaired employees to improve their computer skills. Each TrainingWare Title, both Trainer's and Student version, is divided into lessons, with each lesson devoted to a single, discrete topic. Each lesson presents new vocabulary and keystrokes, as well as a step-by-step, easy-to-follow exercise in which the lesson concept is introduced, practiced and reinforced. The titles cover each application from its basic to advanced features. The materials are available in both print and on CD and are accessible. See our list of products in GSA Advantage. Training OptionsDe Witt & Associates offers accessibility & assistive technology consulting and training that runs the gamut of job access concerns. As part of training, we provide job and workplace accommodation consultations. If desired, we begin with computer assessment and evaluation. Our evaluations are comprehensive and well documented. As part of the assessment, we make assistive technology recommendations. We'll provide you with a detailed report that includes needs assessment, goals, assistive technology recommendations and training recommendations. These detailed reports help employers make intelligent and cost effective decisions about assistive technology for their employees. For job and workplace accommodations, our staff of experienced assistive technology specialists can evaluate your workplace and help your human resources department provide cost effective solutions that keep employees with disabilities productive. Because we do not represent any single assistive technology provider, you can rest assured that you are getting the most unbiased recommendation possible. Beyond assessments and evaluations, De Witt & Associates offers customized access technology training targeted to supervisors, instructors, and users. Individual training is also available and can be personalized or created on a one-on-one basis to take place within the home or office. Group training is available within our state-of-the-art training center located at De Witt's headquarters, where the opportunity exists to form your own group or participate in one of ours. We can train by the hour, or structure a half-day, full day or weekly class.
